River Garden Field Guides

When we were constructing River Garden, we knew it would be a different type of landscaping traditionally used in other places in Memphis. Because of this,s we came up with a way to educate people about the plants and animals through a couple of Field Guides that the Park Rangers could hand out in the park.

The book's first edition was featured on the Scout Book blo,g along with a Q&A with me. Check it out here.

The first Field Guide included a handful of plants, birds, and a butterfly. The second guide we did was strictly birds. A man working in the park’s cafe was a passionate bird watcher. He would keep track of the bird that would visit the Garden, complete with notes and seasons that you could find them. We illustrated and included 13 birds from the book that people could find.
